The information we have on this badge so far is as follows:

This is an arm badge of the type worn by one of our members when they were a member of the Joseph Lucas Works Fire Brigade. It was issued to members who qualified for a first aid certificate after completing a course of instruction delivered by the Lucas works Doctor and medical staff. The badge does not seem to have been issued by a recognised first aid organisation and so could have been a stock item at the manufacturers.

Police officers and firemen who qualified with the St. John Ambulance Association wore the St. John version of the badge as can be seen in some old photographs. The National Fire Brigades' Association also had two versions of a first aid badge which were only available to their members upon production of a suitable certificate to authenticate their eligiblity. One had a White cross at the centre and the other a red cross. Both were gilt and enamel design with "National Fire Brigades Association" around the edge of the circular badge. Both of these designs had loop and pin fixings ion the rear and were of gilt and enamel construction.
